About

Claire McDonough, APRN, PMHNP

Welcome! Among the multiple roles I enjoy, I consider myself a nurse, counselor, mother, educator, yoga enthusiast and LGBTQIA-ally. My practice's mission is to promote mental health and mental wellness. I believe in providing integrative psychiatry that transcends a sterile checklist of symptoms, and instead provides a slowed-down and collaborative approach. There is no one size fits all! You are the expert on YOU, and I simply want keep our conversation going. I think it is absolutely necessary to have a dialogue about how social context interacts with your health needs.  We will discuss various paths toward transformation, including medications, psychotherapy, herbal supplements, counseling, social skills, mindfulness, nutrition, and fitness.

As a client, you will notice my conversational style and compassionate demeanor, and my desire to talk about what is important to you. APRN stands for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse because my training started as a school nurse. PMHNP means Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner as my education specialized in psychology and pharmacology. I have prescriptive authority and am able to prescribe psychiatric medications. I have a special interest in working with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, postpartum mood changes, and addiction issues, and I am LGBTQIA+-affirming. I work with clients who are age 18 and older.
